i've been feeling so strange lately

Thu Jul 12, 2012, 8:04 AM
as if everything is an almost, but in the least agonizing way possible.  there used to be two of me:  one that appeared at one a.m. on the periphery of sleep, curled into a ball, and the other that the mirror reflected and who sold herself into the world like a photograph.  these two seem to be merging, now, and it is the most subtle and rare feeling, like the sun's breath on your face or a boy's fingers on your knuckles (both of which i desire).

There are times when truth is better spoken by others than oneself.

I am seventeen years old.  Somehow, these past six years have given me the feeling of revisiting an old life.  I feel as if I have spent all of my time dreaming, and none living.  I smiled today, but did not know why, did not know whether it was of sad remembrance or happiness.

It is hard waking up to sun.
It is beautiful.

i am looking back at this page and laughing.  the ethical and careful self i used to be has long metamorphosed into the candid and smiting self i am now (or so i like to flatter myself).  i feel as if i have grown out of deviantart, or, at least, the person who has constituted this page and its gallery.  i have not picked up a pencil in ages; i feel as if my old work - that which my hand has inevitably memorized - no longer depicts the state of my mind in the present; but, though i strive to rebuild my style, the intrinsic fear of failure that any artist experiences prevents me from taking any first step.  school is its usual obligation - although now more than ever - and humanity, especially that of the high school sort, has begun to piss me off.  nonetheless, hypocrite that i am, i have created a tumblr.  it is new and it is clean, and satisfies my inherent desire to be neat.  if your heart desires, follow me - i am far more active there than i am here.

so there you go.

hey everyone,
or everyone who still bothers to read my journals,
it's been hectic.

1.  after finally building up some confidence in drawing, i ended up ripping all of my pictures (except for two) up.  i just have to accept the fact that they (i) can't be perfect, i know, but it's harder than it sounds, especially for me.  anyways, i made a piece of art, would you say, out of one of them:  dreamingpsnlaffingx3.deviantar… .

speaking of art, i've decided to start a project alongside my junior year.  basically, i'm thinking to draw a series of traditional portraits portraying emotions.  sooo, i was wondering if you guys could help me out with references.  all you'd have to do is send me a photo, or photos, at least 2048 by 1546 pixels in size, of your face expressing whatever emotion you want.  along with that, you'd need to include a little blurb giving me permission to one, use your photo(s) as reference, and two, use your photo(s) for all commercial purposes.  my email is perky.dorky@hotmail.com.  don't laugh.  oh, and don't be afraid to spread the word!  pimp me out.

2.  scribblers, i'm going to get back to you as soon as possible.  i feel terrible for being absent so long, but again, it's been hectic.

3.  the group collab.  what are your thoughts?  should we call it quits?  it's quite difficult with so many people, and with school/piano/art/swim/internships, i honestly don't think i can keep up reminding people to write their parts.  let me know.

4.  i got a new cammerraaa!  a canon eos rebel t1i, to be exact.  i love it.  named it, too.  edward.  no twilight association whatsoever.  just saw the camera and felt the name fit.  i hate the series for ruining otherwise beautiful names.  pshhtt.  if you ask me, bella's name should've been paleskin pastypants.  hurumph.

5. this was a while ago, but i finally got to reading dirty liar.  my opinion (not that you're asking)?  it was beautifully written, but it gave me a headache.  i felt claustrophobic reading it.  i don't know why, but benji's feelings toward happiness kind of manisfested themselves in me in the form of food.  benji starts to find hope, i get hungry, benji realizes it's a false alarm, i get...more hungry.  your opinions?

6.  finally, are any of you guys excited to go back to school?  i'm not.  for the first time in my life, i am absolutely dreading the thought of seeing my friends.  i've become quite the little grouch.

i'm doing art for the right reasons anymore.  everything seems forced.  i think i'm going to take a break from deviantart to, i don't know, rediscover it again.  i might be gone for a week, or the whole summer, i don't know - it depends on how things go.

thank you, though, to everyone.  it really means a lot to me when you comment/fave/whatever, even if i'm super slow at getting back to all of you guys.

see you later.

sundays are the most depressing days ever.
i love saturdays, though.
and fridays.

and thursday.  because,
last thursday, i finally spent a day this summer with my friends.  and i didn't even know some of them, aha.  we had a twilight zone marathon and went to lake boren afterwards.  and then walked through the forest to mcdonald's.  which was beautiful - the forest, not mcdonald's.  it was hot out - at long last- and the road was bokeh-fied by the trees, and golden.  i sound schmultzy but it was seriously gorgeous.  there was this old abandoned shack some of us went into that had green windows and creepy hunting equipment inside, it was amazing, and a graveyard where the sun was the brightest.  i'm mad at myself for forgetting to charge my camera =/.  i'm making it a goal to go back there this summer and take pictures.

friday was sleepy.

saturday, i went bridge diving.  sabrina, hailey and i drove almost an hour to get to this river whose name i can't remember to jump.  it was beautiful, too.

so, we jumped from thirty feet above into the water and it was pretty exhilarating.  and painful.  i woke up this morning with purple splattered all over my thighs - in a line, actually - hello bruises.  tip for future bridge jumpers:  never fall halfway and suddenly spread your legs and start flailing your arms like a crazy woman.  ha.

hailey and sabrina went first because i have a fast camera and they wanted me to catch them jumping.  it took them ten minutes.  i went third, and it took me ten seconds, but mostly because i have zero survival instincts and didn't want to seem like a hypocrite for making fun of them for taking so long P=.  but, then again, i don't even remember being scared - all i remember it getting wacked in the ass by the water.

still, none of us were even close to being graceful, me being the least.  i591.photobucket.com/albums/ss… (here's) a picture i snapped of how it should be done.  hailey and sabrina are sitting at the side.  he told us he does stuff like this a lot, so i feel a little less retarded.

i'd do it again in a second.

as for art, i'm so blank lately.  usually, when i'm not inspired in one area, i find inspiration in another.  like if i can't write, i draw, if i can't draw, i take pictures, and if i can't take pictures, i make music.  but right now, i don't feel like doing any of those things.  i'll get ideas, but then just not care about them.  it's a weird feeling.  i don't like it.

anyways, what have you guys been doing this summer?
recommend me something to do =].

oh, and by the way, if you haven't already, read this girl's writing.  she's superb.

NOW BACK TO BECKHAM.

five reasons why he's perfect
1. he's gorgeous in face and body.  and he has bitchin' hair.  that's rare.
2. he's damn good at soccer (i want to say football now).
3. he's nice, from what i've seen.  and shy.  i love shy.
4. he's gay friendly.
5. he's been married to victoria for ten years.  that's commitment.
6. and victoria's cool.  just leave it to stupid americans to give everyone a bad name.
7. he has the cutest british accent ever.  evverrr.

.  so about the world cup.  first off, i'm super sad beckham didn't play.  poor him and his foot injury!  plus, england lost 4-1 to germany, which is humiliating!  actually, all the teams i rooted for lost.  first was denmark, then the u.s., then england, then japan.  sigh.  (AM I BAD LUCK OR SOMETHING?)  still, i can't wait till this weekend to watch ghana play uruguay--go ghana!

ehem, i've become quite the soccer fanatic.

summer is summer,
but
summer doesn't feel right.

maybe it's just because i'm more busy this time of year than usual.  apush + la honors + sats + piano + art (although that is one i enjoy) + getting all my driving done before my permit expires + pending journalism opportunity at a local newspaper = one stressed diana.  not that i regret signing up for so much--in fact, most of the stuff i'm grateful i did sign up for--but, i don't know, thinking about it puts a shaky feeling in my stomach.

then again, it might not even be that.  in fact, it probably isn't.  to tell the truth, the more i think about having fun this summer, the more depressed i get.  i don't get it.

but hey, it's only the second day.  i have to tell myself to just enjoy =].

note to self:  clean out dA account.  you have way too many deviations.

note to self:  commit to writing a novel.  i mean, come on.  you know you want (need) to.

note to self:  try finishing a drawing in less than a month.  you procrastinate.

note to self:  go with sabrina to the u district tomorrow.  and for heaven's sake, have fun.

runnn.  i went on one this morning.  i am disgustingly out of shape.

note to self:  write for yourself and not for others.

my contest.  i'm still waiting on two of my judges.  winners will be announced soon.

note to self:  get into more trouble.

i saw the first half of wristcutters the other day.  now i want to see the rest.

some things are beautiful:

Info.:

Title: "Song of a Stranger"

Category: Literature (prose, poetry, and everything in between)

Prompt:

Write a story about a real stranger in your life. This doesn't have to be a complete stranger--it could just be someone you've seen around but have never talked to or inquired about. Your submission can be of any length, but your story must begin with your stranger in the place you first encountered them (or last, if you can't remember when you first saw them).

However, aside from that, your story does not have to be realistic. For example, if you saw your stranger at the supermarket, you don't have to write a realistic story about the rest of their day. You can, instead, place this stranger in a futuristic supermarket from which he exits into a futuristic world, etc., etc. Catch my drift?
